A Southwest Florida community contacted eNoise Control about complaints they were receiving from the neighbors about the noise coming from the coveted Pickleball Club. The complaints were mostly concerning the sound of the ball hitting the hard paddle or racket. The club decided to construct a chain link fence around the facility and were looking for a sound barrier to attach to the fencing.
eNoise control proposed using Model UNC-XT-1” permanent outdoor sound blankets – 1 lb. PSF reinforced loaded vinyl noise barrier with a 1” thick vinyl coated polyester (VCP) faced quilted fiberglass absorber on one side and all edges bound with gore tenora thread. Panel fabricated with grommets across the top, center and bottom of each panel and mating external grade Velcro on the vertical edges.
It was a long process of HOA and City meetings to get the project approved, but the Pickleball club persevered and got their noise control project underway. Once installed, the community was very happy with the results of the sound blanket barrier.
This application was for a pickleball club. The same application and principles can be applied to tennis, softball and other outdoor sports complexes with existing or proposed fence installation and where located in a sound sensitive or residential area. Construct the fence as high as possible/practical to block line of site from the noise source to the noise receivers. Locate the barrier as close to the noise source as possible. This will provide the highest level of noise reduction.
